Prime Minister sees international opportunities at EGLPrime Minister, John Key visited Explorer Graphics Ltd. (EGL) today, in Whitby, Porirua. EGL is an award winning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions consultancy who are leading New Zealand internationally through their ingenuity and expertise. Founding Managing Director, David Pimblott introduced Mr Key to his international team and explained that their multi-cultural perspective together with a strong ethos built upon the core values of integration, innovation and commitment gives EGL its unparalleled competitive edge. “Most of our team live locally and the work-life balance that this allows results in some pretty impressive stuff” says David. However, it is the large internationally competitive projects that are causing quite a stir. One such multi-million dollar contract is the Port of Los Angeles project which requires the delivery of an enterprise GIS for port operations and dynamic data integration, to ensure operational effectiveness and Port security. Another project is with the Ministry for the Environment to help it meet New Zealand’s requirements under the Kyoto Protocol. EGL developed the geospatial system as part of the Ministry’s Land Use and Carbon Analysis System (LUCAS) project. This project was showcased at an international conference in San Diego, attended by over 10,000 delegates from over 120 countries. “A knowledge economy is the way forward for New Zealand and projects like the ‘Port of Los Angeles’ and ‘LUCAS’ and are excellent examples of how we have positioned ourselves in the international technology market” says David Pimblott. ![]() |
